2024: A Year of Progress and Impact at Leben Homes

As 2024 comes to an end, we’re taking a moment to look back on a year filled with progress and a deep commitment to supporting NDIS participants with life-changing Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). This year, we are proud to have assisted over 15 NDIS participants in finding homes tailored to their specific needs. We held 1 open day and began construction on three new disability accommodations! Here's a look at the highlights of our year, including exciting progress in Traralgon, Darwin, and Emerald.

Traralgon: Setting New Standards in Regional Disability Housing

In Traralgon, we were thrilled to complete construction on two uniquely designed houses, created with input from occupational therapists and tailored to meet the needs of bariatric participants. This development set new standards for accessibility and comfort, offering larger circulation spaces, private courtyards, and specialised layouts. Our November open day was an inspiring opportunity to welcome NDIS participants to explore the accommodation, and we’re proud to have provided permanent homes for 2 individuals. Among them is Agatha, who had spent an unnecessary 600 days in hospital before moving into her new home in Traralgon. Stories like Agatha’s underscore the critical need for projects like this, which offer life-changing solutions and restore independence to those who need it most. With available space to support another two NDIS participants, we are excited to continue creating life-changing opportunities for those seeking safe, supportive, and accessible housing.

Darwin: Innovative Design for Northern Communities

In Darwin, our Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) project has made significant progress. This development features two meticulously designed single-story homes, each comprising two bedrooms, an On-site Overnight Assistance (OOA) room, spacious family-dining areas, separate living rooms, and large garages for parking and storage. Built to meet High Physical Support and Fully Accessible specifications, these residences also incorporate specialised features to cater to bariatric participants. Thoughtfully designed private courtyards and ample space accommodate moveable beds ensuring quick and safe access for NDIS participants and caregivers. This exciting project is set to see House 1 completed by the end of the year, with House 2 following close behind, scheduled for completion at the end of January.

Emerald: Expanding SDA Opportunities in Central Queensland

This year we also commenced construction on our first Specialist Disability Accommodation in Emerald. Featuring one thoughtfully designed home, this initiative addresses the pressing need for accessible housing in the region. Despite challenges such as material costs and regional constraints, our team demonstrated their unwavering commitment to bringing this project to fruition. The home will include multiple living spaces, private outdoor areas, and ensuites for each tenant, ensuring a comfortable and supportive living environment. Construction is progressing steadily, with completion anticipated by March 2025. This project not only provides new beginnings for its future residents but also paves the way for similar developments in underserved towns across Australia.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As we look to 2025, our commitment to innovation and inclusivity remains unwavering. With more projects on the horizon, we’re excited to continue making a meaningful impact in the lives of NDIS participants and their communities. Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey this year. Together, we’re building a future where everyone can live with dignity, pride, and independence.
